As the bush fire season approaches, it's crucial for NSW residents and landowners to be aware of their risk and take steps to protect their homes and properties. To help you prepare, the NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) hosts Get Ready Weekend events every September, providing valuable information and resources to ensure you're ready for the upcoming bush fire season.
These events, held across approximately 500 locations in NSW, aim to raise awareness and promote the Get Ready message and preparedness in your community.
By attending these events, you can gain insights into creating a Bush Fire Survival Plan, maintaining a defendable space around your property, and understanding Fire Danger Ratings. Don't miss this opportunity to connect with your local RFS brigade, access essential resources, and ensure you're well-prepared for the bush fire season.
Mark your calendars for Get Ready Weekend 2024, with majority of events taking place on September 21 and 22. A list of locations will be provided as we get closer.

Fire Season Planning 2018

There were 65 Bingie residents who attended the recent Fire Season Planning 2018 meeting at the Bingie Fire Shed on Sunday 9 September 2018. The members of the Bingie RFS and Bingie Residents Association (BRA) hope that the attendees found the morning useful for planning for this year’s increased risk of bushfire due to the lack of rainfall. It was also a great opportunity to catch up with neighbours and meet some new ones during the sausage sizzle that followed.
You may find the websites listed below helpful. BRA members will already have had this list sent to them.
A reminder that the RFS is NOT issuing fire permits until the area has significant rainfall. It you wish to ring the Moruya RFS (4474 2855) and there is no answer ring the Bega RFS (6494 7400) for information on fire permits.
