Bingie, Meringo, Bergalia & Congo Feral Fighters Group
In October 2025 and February 2026 Chantelle Rose (from Local Land Services NSW) ran two feral animal control information sessions. These workshops related to the control of foxes, rabbits and feral cats. Following from these sessions residents from Congo, Meringo, Bergalia and Bingie areas have formed a group interested in reducing the feral animals that are across the area.
Bingie resident John is managing this local group, while also acting as the group’s contact with Chantelle. He maintains an email group for those interested and shares relevant information about cameras, traps and more. A limited number of traps and trail cameras are available for loan for up to three months, allowing participants to trial their effectiveness before investing in their own equipment. Assistance with setup is available.
Residents interested in getting involved are encouraged to contact John Bowyer for more information. Community members are also asked to record sightings via FeralScan, which helps track pest activity and plan control efforts. The FeralScan program (www.feralscan.org.au) provides an innovative technology to assist landholders and community groups to record pest animal activity and control efforts (e.g. capture or removal), and enables them to use data to prioritise and plan pest control campaigns, and monitor control outcomes.
